iDecco Amplifier

There is a newer model of this amplifier available: Peachtree Audio decco65 Amplifier

World’s 1st Tube Hybrid Integrated Amp with PURE DIGITAL iPod Dock

Made for iPod

The Peachtree Audio iDecco extracts the digital audio from your iPod and sends it directly to the iDecco's built-in high-performance ESS Sabre DAC. After the digital bitstream is converted to an analog music signal, it travels through the iDecco's class A tube-buffered preamplifier stage to a high-current, 40 watt per channel amplifier, ready to drive your speakers of choice.

The iDecco is actually FIVE products in one . . .

  • PURE DIGITAL iPod Dock
  • Integrated Amplifier
  • Class A Tube Preamplifier
  • Stand-Alone Multi-Input DAC
  • Class A Headphone Amplifier

In addition, the iDecco provides a component video out connection so you can use your iPod as a “New Millennium VCR” and watch movies, TV shows and podcasts on your flat panel TV or monitor.

The Perfect Desktop Audio Solution

If you sit at your desk listening to plastic speakers for long periods of time, the iDecco will transform your work space into high-end audio heaven. Just plug your computer into the iDecco with a USB cable and use a matching pair of Peachtree Audio speakers. We’ll make you fall in love with your work space!

PURE DIGITAL iPod Dock

Most iPod docks have analog outputs, forcing you to use the iPod’s internal power supply, DAC and output section. Not so with the iDecco. We send the PURE DIGITAL "1’s & 0’s" from your iPod directly to our Super DAC - so for the first time your iPod can really perform like a high-end CD player.

The DAC

The heart of the iDecco - and what takes the iPod and your other digital sources to a new performance level - is its outstanding digital-to-analog converter. This DAC is the result of two years in development and many hours of critical listening. We employ the ESS 9006 Sabre DAC for digital processing. Our design uses a multi-layer DAC board with over 450 components and 11 regulated power supplies.

Harsh Environment

The ESS Sabre DAC’s patented jitter reduction circuit re-clocks the digital signal before passing it through a high-resolution 24bit/96kHz upsampling processor. This is perfect for computers and most streaming or hard-drive based music servers because most of them have high levels of jitter. Jitter, simply put, is digital timing error between the source and the DAC. The lower the jitter, the better the DAC sounds. Our DAC takes the re-clocked signal and upsamples it to achieve 24/96 resolution. This transforms your iPod or just about any digital source to the performance of a high-end CD player. Even cheap transports and high jitter sources like computers and iPods now sound great because the iDecco thinks they're all high-end digital transports! The iDecco can deliver an astounding 118 dB signal to noise ratio, greatly extending dynamic range and your overall music experience with virtually all digital sources.

Each digital input is transformer-coupled so noise associated with ground problems and switching power supplies from computers is eliminated. The USB connection is galvanically isolated, eliminating noise generated by your computer’s switching power supply and greatly improving sound quality.

The Preamp

The iDecco's preamplifier section employs a class A tube buffer with a 30 ohm output impedance - so if 40 watts per channel isn’t quite enough power, you can hook up a separate, more powerful amplifier. The preamp maintains a high level of detail while also taming harsh, compressed digital music. The iDecco has a USB input for your computer, plus 1 coax and 1 optical input for other digital sources like Squeezebox, Apple TV or Airport Express, Sonos, and XM or Sirius tuners. It also has 1 analog input for a tape deck or phono preamp. iDecco covers the bases!

Quiet!

For the headphone user the iDecco has a class A tube headphone section that rivals some of the best headphone amps available today. When headphones are plugged in, your speakers are muted so you can rock on when quiet is a necessity. Headphones have never sounded better than through the iDecco!

Backstage Pass

Still more features and flexibility:

  • Sharp/Slow digital filter to fine tune your listening preferences
  • Variable pre out and fixed-level line out
  • Component video out
  • Multi-voltage switch
  • Removable power cord in case you ever want to upgrade

iDecco Reviews

Stereophile logo
"During its time in my home, the Peachtree iDecco proved so delightful, so indispensable, that I had no choice but to buy it. A perfectionist-quality music system-just add speakers!-with a three-figure price? For the domestic audio market of 2010 and beyond, a more important new product is hard to imagine."

"Peachtree Audio’s iDecco is a killer desktop amp, especially when fed through its jitter-controlled, enhanced-DAC-equipped digital inputs. Here’s a product that bridges the yawning gap between the hi-fi verities and the way many music lovers listen now. But I’m afraid you won’t be able to read my last few words about Peachtree’s killer amps. They’ll be written in my checkbook."

"The Peachtree Audio iDecco is a great purchase for those heavily into digital, but with little space in their houses or listening rooms. Its built-in DAC is good enough to mix it with anything at the price, and the amplifier is highly effective too. Factor in a direct digital iPod dock ... and it makes a very convincing case for itself."

"BOTTOM LINE:
The Peachtree Audio iDecco is a worthy little brother to the firm’s excellent Nova, as it combines remarkable flexibility (highlighted by the iDecco’s signature digital iPod dock) with levels of sonic finesse and refinement so high that they really belie the product’s modest asking price."

"I have interconnects in my system that cost more than the iDecco (more than two iDecci, even) and none of them make music so sweetly, or in such an entertaining fashion. This is a marvelous sounding integrated amplifier and a stupendous value. Very Highly Recommended."

Six Moons Lunar Eclipse Award
"Everything ...(imaging, focus, sizing, sorting, avoidance of nasties, tone, articulation, resolution) was quite beyond reproach and likely explains why the Nova walked off with Stereophile's Component of the Year 2009. As the newest iteration of the Peachtree platform, the iDecco sports an already refined and matured circuit. Far more than icing on the cake, the addition over the Nova, of a $3.000 built-in music server (iPod not included), inevitably forces the hand of our publication's award scheme. Lunar eclipse. There, I've slipped that early. This award—we've only given it out four times in eight years—is reserved for break-out performance and novel solutions."
