We want to share an update on the actions we are taking at Peachtree Audio to keep you, and our team members, safe amidst the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. The safety and well-being of our employees and customers is something we take incredibly seriously at Peachtree. We are listening to recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as we strive to help protect our customers and our team members.

We continue to provide our team members facts about COVID-19 and instruct them to follow simple, but effective steps to keep themselves and their co-worker safe such as frequent handwashing. We are regularly disinfecting our facilities and equipment as appropriate. And as always, we are encouraging our team members to take any signs of illness seriously and to seek medical attention as needed. Fortunately, to date, none of our employees are exhibiting symptoms or have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

However, in light of the widespread COVID-19 outbreak, you may have been wondering, "Is that package I received from Peachtree Audio safe to touch?" New research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which has not been peer-reviewed yet, found that COVID-19 can survive up to 3 hours in the air, up to 4 hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to 3 days on plastic and stainless steel. However, according to the WHO, the likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.

If you are still concerned about the risk, Peachtree recommends, upon receiving a package, using a plastic trash bag, or similar, to isolate the package for 24 hours before handling it. Before touching the package with bare hands, open a plastic trash bag and carefully cover the outside of the package with the bag so it acts as a barrier between your hands and the package. Then move the bag, with the package in it, to a safe area in your home and let it sit for 24 hours.
