Back in 2007, we had a bold idea: What if audio didn’t have to be complicated, sound clinical, or cost a small fortune?

So we launched Peachtree Audio — and with it, our very first product: the original decco. It was unlike anything else out there. A beautiful blend of old and new, the decco looked like it belonged in an art gallery, with its metal face and gently rounded wooden enclosure. But inside? It was all about pushing boundaries.

It had analog inputs for things like a turntable and digital inputs for CD transports and things like a SONOS Connect. It even had a cleverly hidden compartment — a “garage” — in the back to tuck that Connect away. Most radical of all? It had a USB input for streaming audio from a computer. In 2007, that was basically science fiction for the hi-fi world.

And yes, it had a tube. Not because it was trendy, but because it made the overall sound a touch warmer, smoother and more musical. At just $800, the decco didn’t just perform well — it challenged everything people thought a high-performance audio product had to be.

  • It was beautiful.

  • It made your music easy to access.

  • It sounded fantastic.

  • And it didn’t cost a small fortune.

That was our DNA. And it still is.

As time passed, technology evolved — and so did we.

Our power amplifiers transitioned from classic Class A/B to more efficient Class-D. Power output went up and DACs got faster and cleaner. And eventually, the beloved tube buffer quietly bowed out.

But the essence? That stayed the same.

  • Still beautiful.

  • Still simple to use.

  • Still exceptional sound.

  • Still within reach.

So why did we let go of the tube? Why did some of our products start using GaN-FETs and others continued to use MOS-FETs? Great questions!

At Peachtree, we design with our ears first. Everything goes through intense listening sessions and meticulous measurements — from DACs and amplifiers to op amps and power supplies and everything in-between. We choose what goes into our products like you’d choose what goes into your home: with thoughtfulness, with care and with purpose.

Originally, we added a tube because earlier digital and Class-D parts could sound a bit too "forward." The tube helped take the edge off, adding some warmth and musicality. It was the perfect complement — for the time.

But technology marched on. And Class-D power amplifiers got better. A lot better. Eventually, the tube wasn’t helping anymore — it was actually getting in the way, adding distortion and coloring the sound in ways we no longer wanted. So we let it go. Not because we stopped caring about great sound, but because we cared about it too much to compromise.

Which brings us to today.

We are now on our fourth-generation platform. And for the first time, we’re hearing things we’ve never heard before from Class-D power amplifiers — remarkable things. Deep, controlled bass. Clear and well articulated mids. Airy and open highs that don’t induce listening fatigue. Holographic imaging that places voices and instruments in their own rightful places. In short, a more open and clear window to the music.

We’re talking real progress — sound that rivals or even surpasses traditional amplifier designs at much higher prices from storied brands. It’s exciting and it's energizing!

The stars of this show?

  • GaN-FET power amplifiers. Available in the Carina GaN and GaN-1.

  • NCore/X (MOS-FET) power amplifiers. Available in the Carina X, Carina 300, Carina 150 and X Amplifiers.

All leaders in their class. All deliver remarkable sound quality in compact, affordable packages. And all aligning perfectly with our mission:

  • Beautiful.

  • Easy.

  • Amazing sound.

  • And yes — still not a small fortune.

Fun Fact: We were so impressed by these new power amplifier technologies that we gave them a nod in our product names!

So yeah, tubes, GaN-FETs, MOS-FETs...it can be confusing. But for us, the path is clear: follow the sound, stay true to our values, keep an open mind, and never stop evolving.

Thank you for reading this far and for your continued support. I hope this has helped shed a bit more light on who we are and how we arrived at where we are today.

Faithfully Yours,
Andrew Clark
